The Refugee Situation in Kenya

As of June 2016, Kenya hosts the second largest number of refugees on the African continent after Ethiopia. For more than two decades, hundreds of thousands of refugees, coming mainly from neighboring countries such as Somalia, and South Sudan, have come to Kenya in search of safety from war and famine. These refugees live in camps and in cities across the country. Kakuma in the North West and Dadaab in the East are the two largest refugee camps in the country. Please feel free to use the maps below to see the specific locations of each camp.

Dadaab Refugee Complex

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) states that Dadaab has more than 276,000 residents, 95% are from Somalia.
